MacNab Calling a Minister – Revised

The announcement below was made Sunday, June 14, 2015 at our Worship Service by our Clerk of Session, Kevin Russell. It will be repeated on Sunday, June 21, 2015 according to the proper procedures.

The members of MacNab Street Presbyterian Church are hereby cited to attend worship on Sunday, June 28 for the purpose of hearing a candidate who will be preaching the call for the vacant pulpit. Members are also cited to attend a congregational meeting immediately following the worship, on the same day, for the purpose of discussing and voting approval for said candidate. Adherents are also urged to participate, and will be invited to support the call, if approved. To facilitate all of this, members and adherents are invited to a “Meet and Greet” with the candidate, on Saturday June 27, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. This notice is given by the Interim Moderator and the Session of MacNab Street Presbyterian Church.

  1. This announces that our Search Committee, formed last October for the purpose of finding a Minister for MacNab, has proposed and recommended a candidate. Our Session has subsequently approved their recommendation and the Congregation may proceed with the Call.
  1. Definition:
    • Cite – mention in an official dispatch or summon to appear in a law court (Oxford English Dictionary) – Citing is the term for putting our congregation and adherent members on notice that they have been summoned to attend a worship service and congregational meeting during which an important decision is be made.
  1. This citing is required to be done twice before the actual event(s) so will be repeated next week at our Sunday Worship Service.
